Latest builds seem to have driver issues with laptop. Builds 10158 - 10566 all freeze after startup.
Rolling back to previous build only caries the problem back to the previous build. Any thoughts on how to resolve would be greatly appreciated. Can't find any display drivers on the Lenovo Support site. I suspect it's the display driver, but haven't been able to confirm. Should also note, each upgrade to the next build cripples Windows. The Start Menu, Notifications, don't work. Launching Edge browser gives me a message that the trial period has ended.
Update Windows 7 To 8.1 For Free
Installing from ISO seems to resolve the issue, but leaves me on older builds. Hi, Welcome to Microsoft Community. I understand that you have an issue with using windows 10 insider previews. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. This can be caused if the user account is corrupted. I would like to know the details below to assist you better.
Are you facing any display issues with Windows 10 builds?. What is the build installed on the computer (there is no such build as 10566)?
In this situation, I suggest you to create a new user account and check if it helps. To create it perform the steps mentioned below. Press Windows key + R key, Run window opens. Type control in the open box and click Ok. Control Panel windows opens. Click on User accounts and Family Safety.
Click on User Account and then click on Manage Accounts. Now click on Add a new user and follow the instructions. Now check if you able to download apps from the new user account created.
Keep us posted on the issue to assist you better. Thank you for the quick reply! I’m not facing any display issues. I’m on build 10162. I mistyped 10566, I meant 10166.
I was able to get 10162 reinstalled from the ISO by using a local account and then attaching my Microsoft account once installed. I did add a local account to my user list, as it seems the Microsoft account is my issue. I’ve also had problems with OneDrive locking up previously, not now though. The Xbox app isn’t working for me now either. It’s telling me there is a problem with my Hotmail account and to login using the xbox.com. I’ve done that, but it didn’t resolve the issue in the app. I am also having problems with a T410 lockup starting with build 10162.
I reverted back to build 10130 and stayed there until the official product release as every attempt to go to 10162 resulted in a lockup. The July 29 final windows 10 64 bit is also having lock up problems on the T410. The update to the final release went fine, until reboot. At that point, I went thru login and the desktop appeared. All seemed well. I moved my external usb mouse and the system locked up. After multiple reboots and experiments, I found that whenever I insert a USB mouse the system locked up.
I found that only Microsoft and Acer mice locked up the system. Logitech mice work just fine.
External USB thumb drives and USB HDD drives (WD) also work just fine. An interesting side effect of the lockup was enough network chatter over the wired LAN connection so all of the PCs / devices in my house showed no internet connection. Once I shut off the T410 by holding down the power switch, internet connectivity returned to all devices in my house. My house is wired for gigabit, has gigabit switches.
My service is Comcast with a normal WAN bandwidth of 50-90 Mbps. Bandwidth should not be an issue.
This is obviously a bug with the Microsoft mouse driver. UPDATE: I upgraded a Lenovo Thinkpad T410 running windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10 Home and also had the lockup with usb mice problem. However, now I am seeing problems also on the Logitech mouse. I am still not having any issue with either the thinkpad joystick or Ultranav pad.

When buying a used ThinkPad, remember to check that the BIOS is not locked with a supervisor's password and that Computrace is not enabled and activated. When buying a new ThinkPad, consider taking the IPS screen option if possible, as it doesn't cost much.
Not only will it have better brightness, colour, contrast and viewing angles - you will most probably more than make up the investment when selling it. How to cursor mania. Corporate bulk purchasers don't usually go for it. The only tools you need for servicing a ThinkPad are a set of small screwdrivers and a nylon spudger (for taking the screen and keyboard bezels off), and possibly a pair of tweezers. A can of compressed air may be useful too, and a bottle of isopropyl alcohol and cotton buds are good for cleaning, but not on the screen. To get the FN key combinations (FN+F2/5/6/7/8/9/Home/End) working you need to install the Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 7. Specifically this: version 3.81 which is specifically for your keyboard style.
FN+F3 requires you to install Lenovo Power Manager which idk if you can have installed at the same time as Lenovo Settings. FN+F4 should work out of the box as the 'sleep button'. FN+PgUp is the Thinklight and hardware. The microphone mute button will only work with Hotkey Features Integration installed.
